Math: - For the past couple weeks we have broken all of the 5/6 classes into smaller math groups to address specific needs for each student. Please check in with your child to see what they have been learning in math. Science: - This week in science we got to experiment with electrical circuits. We experimented with lighting a bulb, figuring out what are conductors and insulators, and how to make a magnet out of batteries and nails. Language Arts: - In Language Arts we have been working on two different things. We have been wrapping up our novel study "Walking Home" with students working in partners to creatively present two chapters from the book. The final presentations will be May 3. We have also begun writing groups to target specific needs that our students have in all of the grade 5 and 6 classes. We will be going into depth in narrative and expository writing styles. Social Studies: - This week in social studies we looked more in depth at local and provincial government. We looked at the role of each government and what the roles and responsibilities are to the citizens they represent.
